🚨🚨🐍🐍Cobras Fall for the second time this season. This time to new team, The Shropshire Huskies🐍🐍🚨🚨
The Coventry Cobras made their way to Telford on the 16/03/2019 to face the Shropshire huskies for the first time ever. The new team have been unbeaten at home and have hit the ground running since their start this season. Unfortunately the Cobras where also unable to stop their winning ways.
First period started and both teams came in waves of attack. Both net minders making plenty of saves and both teams having some great scoring opportunities. It was only until the 19th minute of the first period that the Cobras found themselves on a 2 minute penalty kill and the Huskies capitalised to break the ice. 1-0 Huskies end of first.
The second period started in very much the same way. This time it was only 12 minutes after the second puck drop that the Huskies capitalised on another PP goal. Slightly shell shocked from the power play system of the Shropshire team, the Cobras found themselves on the wrong side of an even handed goal just 16 seconds after the restart. A Cobras time out gave them time to compose and try and respond. Responding well and against the grain came yet another penalty to kill and another Huskies PP goal just before the end of the second. An uphill battle left to play at 4-0 Huskies.
3rd period started and having only taken 13 shots over the first two periods the Cobras had to step up to start manufacturing more scoring opportunities. That we did with a 20 shot third period. Wave after wave of Cobras attacks saw the 6 Goaltender Matthew Draper having to work much harder to keep the score line as it was. Completely against the flow of play the Huskies found a way through once again to take their lead to 5. The Coventry team continued as they were and had no giving up in their minds. With a little under 5 minutes left to play 27 Scott West slipped one in form a tight angle to break the huskies shutout. We didn’t stop there, we pushed and continued to attack in the same manner in which the whole of the 3rd period was played. 18 minutes in to the third 68 Carl Bell tipped a great puck from a huge point shot. Assisted by 4 Sean Doherty the score line read 5-2 Huskies. Too little too late as the game finished that way.
Great game and some fantastic plays from both teams. Thanks to those who made the journey to watch and support for both teams and we can’t wait for the return fixture. Sorry for the late report folks and let’s move on to the next one.
Man of the match 68 Carl Bell
Players Player 24 Joe Southall
